Munduk Itinerary: 1, 2 and 3 Day Plans

Munduk rewards a slower pace, but it’s easy to waste a day on mountain roads if the route isn’t planned. These itineraries group the sights by direction so you spend more time at the places and less in the car. Each day below is one of our private driver packages, and you can swap or reorder stops with the Custom Driver Tour. Travel times are rough estimates and depend on traffic and weather.

1 day in Munduk

If you only have one day, keep it close to the village. Start early with the Munduk Waterfalls & Lake Tamblingan package: an easy jungle trail past the Munduk, Melanting and Golden Valley waterfalls, then a quiet stop by the lake. It suits most fitness levels and families. If you’d rather add something cultural, finish with a visit to a coffee and clove garden (see the Coffee & Clove Gardens half-day).

2 days in Munduk

Day 1: the lakes and gardens. Do the Twin Lakes & Ulun Danu Temple Tour: the viewpoint over Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan, a short forest walk, and the lakeside temple. Fill the afternoon with the coffee and clove gardens.

Day 2: pick one waterfall adventure. Choose the Sekumpul & Banyumala Waterfall Trek for the classic big waterfall and a swim, or the Aling-Aling Waterfall Adventure if you want slides and jumps. Not sure which? Read Sekumpul vs Aling-Aling.

3 days in Munduk

Day 1: easy start with the Munduk waterfall loop and Lake Tamblingan.

Day 2: the big waterfall day, Sekumpul and Banyumala, which is the most tiring day, so don’t stack anything else on it.

Day 3: scenery and culture. Choose the Jatiluwih Rice Terrace & Batukaru Temple day trip, or go lighter with the Wanagiri Hidden Hill & Handara Gate photo tour followed by the Banjar Hot Springs to relax. On your way out, you can use the Munduk – Bedugul – Ubud route so the transfer doubles as sightseeing.

Tips for planning

  • One trek per day: distances add up on winding roads, so don’t combine Sekumpul and Aling-Aling.
  • Start early: mornings are cooler, clearer and less crowded, and afternoon rain is common in wet season.
  • Check the season: our best time to visit Munduk guide explains what each month feels like, and the packing guide covers what to bring.
  • Not sure Munduk is for you? See Is Munduk worth visiting? and Munduk vs Ubud.

Prices for each package are in our Munduk driver price guide. Send us your dates and how many days you have on WhatsApp, and we’ll shape one of these into a plan for your group.
